Hi Sylvia,
Thank you for the questions:
1) $350 is what it costs in my area for a pre-licensing class, we use Rockwell institute, but there are many out there. Just be sure they are a reputable company that provides everything you need to meet your state's requirements and that they have a good success record.
2) Once you have your license it is typically not hard (read too easy) to get picked up with a brokerage. The question usually is not, what company wants you....but rather which company do YOU want to work with. Having said that this would be a great question to pose to the broker you are interviewing. Be sure to interview several and talk with some of their agents as well.
Best of luck,
Frank

I like this guy. All to often real estate agents try to list homes for sale, but are totally unprepared, especially for the current market. One of the strategies we use in our company is a "Price Trend Analysis" which is more detailed than a generic CMA and uses historical data as well as current market conditions and the absorption rate to price homes to sell based on how long it will take to sell it.

Frank, my husband Klaus and I are very much into books. Our house is full of them. My son wanted to buy a Kindle for Klaus as a Christmas present - but Klaus was hesitant - he just felt Books were better - well, he did receive a Kindle for Christmas and guess what - he does not leave the house without his Kindle. He loves it! Especially when travelling.
I have put one on my wish list too. Now, if we could only use the Kindle as a lap top at the same time!!!

I find that especially in this market it is critical the listing agent shows up to help the appraiser identify areas of the home that can impact value.
